Today's my Anniversary

Today is mine and my husbands 15th Anniversary. I don't think we are going anywhere tonite though. Steve started back to work last night after being off for 2 weeks due to his back injury. Dr. Mark said it was ok for him to go back to work. He has bowling league tonight (if he's able to bowl) and that starts at 6:30 until almost 8pm. He has to leave for work at 10pm. We will have to celebrate another day.
Sunday we are planning to take Brady to the Tulsa Fair, even though we won't get to attend the ice show. I love going to the fair, it brings back so many memories. My friend Shelly R. and I used to go to the fair with her parents, and spend the night with her mimi in Tulsa. We had so much fun! We would all go our separate ways and no one really worried about anything happening. There is no way I would let my son go off by himself now in the year 2000. I am not the too overprotective mom but I have always been very, very protective,......ok, maybe I am overprotective!! He has been my only child for 10 years. I love looking at the campers and new cars and the Oklahoma building with the okie venders-just everything. I don't enjoy the games part where they con the little kids into playing the games that they can't win. The rides are ok, I love the food. Guess this could have been my T3 this week. Owell.
By the way Courtney, I love your camper! I see it when I am on my way taking Brady to school. I still can't post comments on your blog!! I always want to comment and my computer won't bring it up. wanted you to know why I am never commenting.
Cya :) Casa Bonita is closing!!!! Tomorrow is the last day!!!!! I really wanted to go there this weekend.

Happy Birthday Starlit!

Happy Birthday Courtney!! Today is Starlit's birthday. Go over and wish her a Happy Birthday!

Whiny Wednesday

2 wonderfully sucky whines! (It is really already Thursday but I just found this out within the last 30 minutes and thought it qualified as a whine.)
*I wanted to take Brady to see the Disney on Ice show at the Tulsa fair. We have gone the past 2 years. I waited too long and now there are no tickets. (So I guess we will just go to the fair on Sunday since we won't get to watch the race, because our wonderful cable co has taken channel 10 off of our tv)

*I went on the Christmas train website, since I promised Brady we would go this year and take his dad. It says they are closed this year but will be open during the 2006 season. They are expanding.

Feels like Fall!

Oh it feels great outside right now! It's almost cold. I opened all of our windows. It was so hot and humid today in fact my blown dry straight hair this morning turned into poodle curls, and now feeling the weather you would have never known what it was really like today. My mom and I went to a funeral today. He was moms second cousin, my third. His sister is my cousin and also my aunt. She is my moms ex-sister in law and her cousin. Sounds like a Murphy saga huh, Courtney and Alyssa?? Love confusing people. It was a nice funeral, I don't really like going to them but it was nice. I didn't realize we had so many cousins.
----------------------------------------------------
We are getting Dish next Wednesday, which means we will be missing the race this weekend which sucks. We are cutting our cable. We can't live without channel 10 any longer. No Apprentice, No ER, No Biggest Loser. Sucks! Do you blame us?? The only thing I am really going to miss about our cable though is that we get Tulsa channels. I watch Channel 6 Tulsa news with Leanne and Casey and Katie. I will miss them terribly, they are like family!! other than that bring on the Dish!
---------------------------------------------------
I am so excited that its almost October! 3 more days! October is my favorite month, I love the leaves falling and the pumkins, all the orange and brown everywhere, jacket wearing weather. Not necessarily halloween, but the feel of FALL! Love it, love it, love it!! Puts me in such a good mood.
I also love Christmas with a big snowstorm. I will get to that later though. Cya:)

TV

*I'm so glad the new TV season has started! Desperate Housewives was very good tonight. I love that show!
*Tony came in 18th place today in Nascar. He ended up doing great compared to where he was at the beginning. He started in 31st place and then had some problems with his car. He is just a hottie!
* Yesterday we went to the Veterans day picnic. One of the guys I work with in AWS is in the veterans group and invited us. However, everyone in town was invited to go.
*I need some new clothes!! I am outgrowing my normal ones, and next month I will start substituting. :):)

Hello

Today was my bestest friend Michele's birthday. We met in the summer after 9th grade. My dad had been working in Tulsa and drove to and from everyday from Miami for a LOOOONG time, I am talking years. We moved to Broken Arrow in the middle of my 9th grade year. I'm telling you all now, don't ever do this to your children----moving in the middle of the year. Although my parents tell me that they didn't know our house in Miami was going to sell that fast. Anyway big BA was very BIG compared to what I was coming from. There were two middle schools of 9th and 10th graders. I felt so out of place even though I had moved all of my life. I guess it was the age I was at the time. Michele I found out lived down the street from us in the adjoining housing addition. We were best friends all through school, we then went off to college separate ways, she went to University of Arkansas and I went to NEO in Miami. Then ended up being roomates with another one of our friends in Tulsa. Oh, the stories I could tell. Anyone that knows Tulsa--we used to go to the Caravan in high school and also later on. Save some of those stories for another day!!:) Anyway I moved back to Miami and went back to school. Michele moved to Wisconsin. She is currently married and has 3 kids. 16, 9 and 2? I think she's 2. We keep in touch talking on the phone and see eachother when they come
to BA (her parents, brother and sister still live there). Besides my husband, she knows my life story-the good and the bad. Ha ha!
I know she reads my blog sometimes!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK!!!!BIG 39!! Ya, I know I'm older than you, but only by 2 months!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I know I haven't written about Tony in awhile, but I have been watching Nascar. Weekend before last he got 5th place, and then last weekend in the chase for the cup he was first in points going in, and got 2nd place. He led a lot of laps that race and then toward the end passed Ryan Newman, then at the end he got passed. Owell he's still the BESt!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
My husband is still off of work. This is his second week. He had an MRI done this morning. There is no way I could get that done. He had a closed one. I am so claustrophobic I would probably pass out. I would have to have it open. He just put a movie in--Team America World Police. Omy. Not my favorite, but he thinks its funny. I guess its better than watching poker.

The Weekend

Friday I was going to help set up for the Designs of Autumn. Actually I didn't sign up to help set up, I only signed up to work that evening. But being the wonderful AWS president that I am I went downtown at 10am that morning to help. OMyGosh. We thought our booth was going to be right across the street from the store where all of our tables, chairs, tents and everything was. HA, no! We had to, or rather our treasurers husband had to get the tables into the truck (I couldn't lift anything) and down the street to our booth spot. Once everything was down there we learned really fast how to set the tents up. Ya, right. We have 2 really nice tents now. Our others were falling apart. I finally left there at 2pm. I had to be back to work the booth from 4-7pm. And then take all the stuff off the tables for the night. Talk about a loooong day. Got back at 8:30 the next morning to set everything back up. Worked from 9-11 and then from 3-6, helped clean up, went back home to change clothes and Brady and I went to "The Wizard of Oz". It was outstanding! We have some very talented actors in Miami! and the new seats at the Coleman Theatre are so comfortable!
--------------------------------------------------------
Thursday at adoption day, we adopted out 5 dogs and 2 cats. We fostered out 5 dogs and 1 cat. We had a very good day. YAYYY
--------------------------------------------------------
Today my sister Alyssa was going to help me study my Algebra. I have decided I am going to drop my class. I just don't get it!! $#@&! I think College Algebra is about the most stupid required class that they have come up with. I can understand a basic math class, but not algebra unless you are planning on being an engineer or something like that. Plus, I already passed the class with a C. Why torture myself some more?
--------------------------------------------------------
My husband is watching Poker. I think I am ready to go to sleep now, don't really feel like watching Poker anymore tonite.
C-ya!

I've got so much to do

Yesterday I went to eat lunch at school with my son. They grilled hamburgers and the whole school had a picnic. It was a lot of fun, til my son ditched me, a lot of parents were getting ditched by their children so they could go play with their friends. Anyway I spread some of my pregnancy news to my other 39 year old friends, who wished me "Congratulations" and "better you than me's" we had fun, and they thought it was so funny! I then, since I am PTO secretary helped the Prez and Vice Prez roll millions of pennies. The classes are collecting money for Hurricane Katrina to see whose class can collect the most from each side of the school-then they win a pizza party for their class. One class already has $85.00. It ends tomorrow. Guess I better send some money tomorrow!!
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am working at the Animal shelter today. It was my day off but now I am working. I will have the next two weeks off. I have a PTO meeting next Thursday and my anniversary the next. I found out yesterday someone said that the shelter will only be keeping dogs a week now until being euthenized. This really pisses me off! We need a new shelter so bad, ours only has 16 runs and 3 cat cages- and the animal control officer needs help really bad. They usually keep pets he picks up for three days so someone can claim them and then puts them up for adoption for 2 weeks. The one week thing is going to be really bad, they better not do it! We open the shelter on Thursdays to try to get these animals adopted so hopefully they won't be euthenized. It is very emotional and I have left in tears more than once. It makes me mad when people bring in a whole litter of puppies and the AC officer tells them I have to put some dogs down, we have no room- then the people say "How can you live with yourself?" "Putting dogs down?" HELLO PEOPLE!!! Get your dogs spayed and neutered! You would have no puppies if you got your dogs spayed and neutered we wouldn't have millions of dogs and cats being put to sleep every day because nobody wants them!!! and you can't take care of them!!--------------Sorry had to vent a little!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, We have to set up AWS our booth Friday for "Designs of Autumn" an arts fair they have downtown with art and music and food. I work in our booth tomorrow evening, Sat morning and another shift on Sat too. I want to take Brady to see "Wizard of Oz".
I also have an algebra test to study for. AAAAAAHHH! I am nauseated just thinking about it.

T3

Top ten Musical artists I love.....so far! not in any order, and there are a lot more!!

1) Prince
2) Aerosmith
3) Lionel Richie
4) Luther Vandross
5) REO Speedwagon
6) Eagles
7) Kid Rock
8) Def Leppard
9) Madonna
10) Billy Idol

Forgot Stevie Ray Vaughan!!! He's in there too!

I am just not a math person

What am I thinking? I went to my college algebra class today, just as confused as always. I do not have the "math" brain in my head. Just about anything else is there, but algebra is not!
I am wondering what I can tell PSU to tell them that I have a math disability. It makes me mad that they let people into teacher education with a "B" average, but when they take the PPST math part they can miss it by like 2-3 pts and they let them in. I make a B, and a C and miss the stupid test by 1 idiotic point TWICE, and it isn't good enough. Ok, so I'm pissed right now. Now I am trying to prove myself taking this stupid class. I am about ready to just find a job and say screw school. I'm 39 years old and taking college algebra. OK, what is wrong with this picture?? All of the people I have been going to school with will be graduating, and then when the faculty or whoever finally think I have suffered enough with this stupid math I won't even want to go anymore. I only want to teach K-4!! It just really makes me mad. Sorry had to vent!!!!

On a brighter note, I went to the doctor this past Friday and saw baby on the ultrasound which was exciting. I don't have another appointment until October.

I am trying to get the house cleaned and straightened. There is a lot to do! I also need to go apply for substituting tomorrow so we have some extra $$ coming in. Can you tell I am excited?? Kids are very different these days, my son was telling me today that some of the kids in his class were mean to the sub that was in the other 5th grade class. fun fun!

Here's mine!!

Here's mine! From April's blog:

I am a Collard:
COLLARDS (June 22 - July 23) Collards have a genius for communication. They love to get in the melting pot of life and share their essence with the essenceof those around them. Collards make good social workers, psychologists, and baseball managers. As far as your personal life goes, if you are Collards, stay away from Crawfish. It just won't work. Save yourself a lot of heartache.

Married to a Collard.

We have a 10 yr old son:
OKRA (Dec 22 - Jan 20) Are tough on the outside but tender on the inside. Okras have tremendous influence. An older Okra can look back over his life and see the seeds of his influence everywhere. You can do something good each day if you try.

And a soon to be baby:
BOLL WEEVIL (Feb 20 - March 20) You have an overwhelming curiosity. You're unsatisfied with the surface of things, and you feel the need to bore deep into the interior of everything. Needless to say, you are very intense and driven as if you had some inner hunger. You love to stay busy and tend to work too much. Nobody in their right mind is going to marry you, so don't worry about it.

ooh I'm a slackerrrrr!

I've been reading everyone else's posts for the last couple of days and haven't posted anything on here!
Steve actually "talked" to his parents this morning. They have electricity again. thank goodness! A couple are staying at their house. They had lost everything in their house, plus had two rental houses that they lost. Very sad! My inlaws got very very lucky! They only have to replace their roof, carpet, and wood flooring, garage door and need some stucco fixing on the outside of their house. They lost their privacy fence and their pool. It could have been so much worse.
------------------------------------------------
I made this dip on Wed night and it is so good! It is from a mix I got at the Bayou store in Slidell, la I tried to get on their website, but it's down. I hope they didn't get flooded. It was a very cool store! and by the way I have eaten almost all of it. It has dill, cayenne, and I mixed it with sour cream. YUMMMMM!
-------------------------------------------------
I really didn't have anything to whine about yesterday. I, too, like Irish Divinity feel very fortunate to have what I have right now. There are so many that are going through so much I really feel for them!
The only thing I can whine about is that everytime I brush my teeth I gag!
(pregnancy) :)
--------------------------------------------------
I, too can't wait until Fall!!! It is my favorite! October is my favorite month of the year! I remember last fall I was walking through campus at PSU and the leaves were falling, the wind was blowing the leaves all around and it was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish it would stay like that forever. Puts me in such a good mood, opening all of the windows letting the house air out, cleaning, love it!!!
--------------------------------------------------
We have adoption day today at the shelter. I'm not getting there until around 4pm after Brady gets out of school. If you need a pet come on down!!
--------------------------------------------------
I'll write more later!!!

Updates

My inlaws left a message Saturday while we were gone and Steve was sleeping (he works nights). They went back to Slidell on Friday and they have a big hole in their roof where the chimney used to be and water came through there on both sides, the fireplace comes out the livingroom and the other side dining area. ruined the wood floors and the privacy fence was down and the pool damaged. They still don't have electricity but used a generator and a fan that night to sleep. We couldn't get through to call them back on their cell phone, and he called again this morning but the cell cut off before they could talk, so we really don't know too much. Hopefully the damage was only in their livingroom, dining/kitchen area only. I hope we can get through to them soon.

------------------------------------------------------------

Tony came in 5th place tonite in the Nascar race. I'm not used to him driving the white car. He had a good race though! He was in first for awhile but got passed on his pit stops.

------------------------------------------------------------

Brady and I went and saw "Red Eye" yesterday in Joplin. It was good. I really wanted to see "The Skeleton Key" but we saw the other. I want to go see "The 40 year Old Virgin" since Diva says it is so good!!! I will have to go see that one with Mr. B's mom.

A little bit of everything

I will start things off that Steve's aunt and uncle finally got electricity yesterday. They live in Mobile, AL. My father in law talked to one of their neighbors in Slidell, LA to see how their neighborhood looked. She told him that their house was still standing and looked ok, but that she had water damage in her house. We are still not sure how their house really is, but hopefully there wasn't too much damage. I'm thinking they may have went to see today. Thanks Courtney for asking about them!!
I hope everything is ok! This whole situation is so sad, I feel so bad for all of the kids and elderly that were starving and thirsty in New Orleans, waiting to be picked up. My casino is ruined that I won my money in, in August! It was a beautiful casino. We have spent so much time in Gulfport, Biloxi, Bay St. Louis and New Orleans it is really sad for me to try to realize all of this happening, we were just there 4 weeks ago!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations on your new car Courtney!! I was wanting an SUV or a van but now I guess I need a big "small" car that gets good gas mileage! And holds a kid, baby, big dog and me and a husband.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to the doctor today. For all of you that haven't read my blog a couple of days ago,---yes, I am pregnant!!! I know I am old, don't remind me!! Anyway we had a scare on the 22nd(Mon.) I went in and they couldn't find the baby on the ultrasound. They saw a sac but no baby. She had me take a bloodtest, then come back on the 24th(Wed) for another test to check my levels. She then said she thought I had a blighted ovum, which means there is a sac but no baby had formed. They scheduled me for a d&c for the next morning. She had me come back that Wed. evening to X-ray to have another vaginal u.s. done to make sure. So me and the X-ray guy are looking around in there (ok, no jokes!!:) and we saw what they said was the sac, and he scanned down and he said, "There's your baby! Moving around and everything. I about flew off the table and gave him a big hug! LOL Anyway, no I didn't fly off the table, but he made my night!!!!!!!!! Things have been going good ever since-needless to say I didn't set foot in that hospital the next day!! My blood pressure has been high and I am taking medicine, but I am feeling really good. Just praying a lot that this pregnancy will be good and to term!
